A Christian Dior by John Galliano stacked choker necklace, circa 1996–97, executed in gunmetal silver-tone metal with articulated chain strands and acorn-form pendants. A raised, curved central collar is suspended with delicate chains terminating in rhinestone-set acorns and centered by a larger rhinestone pendant, while an adjustable chain fastening allows the necklace to sit closely at the neck. Dating from the opening years of Galliano’s tenure at Dior, the piece exemplifies the elaborate, sculptural costume jewelry that became integral to his early vocabulary for the house; preserved in excellent condition.
