The Impossible Couture Collection

Born from a desire to elevate fashion to the rank of art, the exhibition brings together exceptional and significant works from the 1960s to the 2000s designed by John Galliano, Azzedine Alaïa, Schiaparelli, Alexander McQueen, and Yves Saint Laurent. Exhibited publicly at the nearby Met Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London or the Musée de la Mode in Paris, it will be the first time these pieces are presented in a private setting before being sold at auction on September 17.

Unveiled to the public on September 11 during an intimate salon-style runway show styled by W Magazine Style Director, Allia Alliata di Montereale, some of the most recognizable pieces include Alexander McQueen’s Plato’s Atlantis “Armadillo ensemble”, accompanied by a pair of the legendary “Armadillo shoes” from the personal collection of Naomi Campbell; Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic Mondrian dress; and important John Galliano runway pieces from the personal collection of Jørgen Simonsen, the designer who worked directly alongside Galliano.

The Impossible Couture Collection approaches these extraordinary works not simply as fashion, but as defining artistic objects of their time.
